Preventing Pressure Injuries – Why Shear Deserves More Attention

When: 24 September 2025, 15:10-16:10
Where: Restaurant Hall 3
Speakers:
Fares Al‑Khaliliy, Clinical Manager

Pressure injuries remain one of the most common and costly preventable care-related injuries. For patients, they can result in pain, complications and longer recovery. For healthcare professionals, they represent increased workload, ethical stress, and time taken from other essential care tasks. In this workshop, we take a closer look at one of the less visible but highly influential factors behind pressure injuries: shear. Together, we explore how a better understanding – and management – of shear can reduce injury risk, support clinical routines, and make preventive work more effective and sustainable. Join us for a shift in perspective: from reacting to injuries, to building everyday care that actively prevents them.
